BROOKLYN, NY - There is reason to celebrate on FDNY Appreciation Night at MCU Park.

In addition to honoring the bravery of those who put themselves on the line every day, the Cyclones could be catching some fire of their own after notching their third win in a row on Friday night. They defeated the Batavia Muckdogs by a 3-1 score and after falling behind early, Brooklyn battled back for their sixth come-from-behind win of the season. It's their fourth home win in a row and their first victory to open a series since July 11th vs. Aberdeen.

Batavia got on the board right away in the first as third baseman Angel Reyes hit a one-out triple to the left center field gap. With two men down, catcher Brad Haynal knocked in the run with a single, giving the Muckdogs a 1-0 lead.

Brooklyn got their offense going in the bottom of the second off Batavia starter Dillon Peters. A Jeff Diehl walk and a double from Brandon Brosher put runners at second and third with two away. Manuel Hilario then poked a two-run single into right field, giving the Cyclones a 2-1 lead they would not relinquish.

The early lead wasn't enough for Peters, who tossed five innings, allowing four hits and two runs while walking two and striking out seven. It was by no means a bad night for the lefty but one in which he received little run support. He would end up the hard-luck loser of sorts in his first action with the Muckdogs.

Almonte (5-2, 2.27) labored through most of the first few innings, battling through multiple runners being on base in almost every frame. He got himself into and out of several jams over the course of the outing but showed some grit, allowing just one run. Almonte ended his night allowing six hits and three walks over six innings while striking out three. He left the game with a lead after turning in his sixth quality start of the season and eventually earning his fifth win.

The Cyclones managed to extend their lead without a hit in the sixth against the Batavia bullpen. After David Thompson and Diehl walked to begin the inning, a Brosher sacrifice fly put runners on the corners. Hengelbert Rojas then grounded out, scoring Thompson and extending the Brooklyn lead to 3-1.

LHP P.J. Conlon came on in relief for the seventh inning, allowing a hit but no runs. RHP Corey Taylor came on in the eighth and tossed a perfect inning, continuing his dominance in 2015. Right-handed closer Alex Palsha came on in the ninth and set down the Muckdogs in order to nail down the 3-1 win and record his league-leading ninth save in as many chances.

The Cyclone bullpen allowed just one hit in three innings, shutting down the Batavia offense for the latter part of the game. Conlon, Taylor and Palsha have made a combined 34 appearances, totaling 36.2 innings and have yet to allow an earned run between them in 2015.

The Cyclones next home game is tomorrow, Saturday August 1st with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 PM. RHP Andrew Church (1-1, 3.12) takes the hill for Brooklyn on DSNY Appreciation Night.
