Broncos Announce Beer Partnership with Great Western Brewing Company
August 27, 2019 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Swift Current Broncos News Release
The Swift Current Broncos are extremely excited to announce a new partnership with the Great Western Brewing Company, which will see Great Western and Original 16 brands as the Official Beer Sponsor of the Swift Current Broncos beginning for the 2019-20 season.
Original 16 Canadian Pale Ale, Original 16 Canadian Copper Ale and new Original 16 Helles Half Acre will be offered as our three premium beer options, alongside Great Western Light and Great Western Pilsner.
As a Saskatchewan based company, Great Western Brewing has shown a long-standing commitment and dedication to the province of Saskatchewan, and have shown this same level of commitment to the Swift Current Broncos, our communities and to junior hockey in our province.
"Our focus has always been local. From the day our 16 founders gave everything they had to keep brewing beer in the province, it's been our honour to maintain our Saskatchewan focus," said Michael Brennan, Great Western Brewing Company CEO. "We brew all of our beer here and even locally source our ingredients from farmers in Saskatchewan, two of which are in the Swift Current area."
"The fact that Original 16 and Great Western beers are made with ingredients grown in our province and our community, and help to support these Saskatchewan communities means a lot to our organization," stated Broncos Director of Business Operations Nathan MacDonald. "The Great Western Brewing Company's story of determination and fighting through many challenges to be a mainstay in Saskatchewan is a similar story to Swift Current Broncos, and we are eager to partner with an organization that shares many of the same philosophies and values as our organizations."
"The Broncos represent so many things we believe in," said Brennan. "There's nothing quite like a hockey team, or rink to represent the epitome of Saskatchewan. This is where we meet and come together as a community - to share and celebrate. And the Broncos, specifically, model the determination, strength and perseverance that so well defines the Saskatchewan spirit."
The commitment from Great Western Brewing will allow the Swift Current Broncos to offer three premium options at $6.50 per premium beer, down from $6.75 per beer from the prior season. Our two regular options will also be reduced from $6.00 per beer, down to $5.75. "We're not only excited to offer more premium options with the three Original 16 options that we will serve, but also to be able to pass along a price reduction to our loyal and supportive fans," notes MacDonald. "Were continuously looking at ways to enhance the game day experience and create value for our fans, and we think this partnership will be a big step towards accomplishing a great overall experience."
Fans will be able to see Original 16 and Great Western beers served at our upcoming preseason games, and will have them prominently displayed at our Pioneer Co-op Home Opener pre-Game BBQ on September 21.
