Pre-Season Recap: Regina Pats (3) vs Moose Jaw Warriors (1)

Regina, Saskatchewan - Garrett Wright scored twice, and the Regina Pats kicked off the 2019 WHL Preseason with a 3-1 win in Moose Jaw over the Warriors on Tuesday night.

In the first period, Garrett Wright opened the scoring for Regina when he tipped home a point shot on the powerplay. Makai Mitchell and Sloan Stanick picked up the assists at 11:03. Wright added his second of the night three minutes later thanks to another tip, Marcus Taylor picked up the lone assist at 11:03 to make it 2-0 and that was the score after one. In the second, the Warriros drew to within a goal thanks to Josh Hoekstra 1:33 into the period. Haydn Delorme restored the two-goal lead at 4:29 on a nice shot from the slot to make it 3-1. The Pats took that lead into the third where the Warriors put 12 shots on goal, but Mathew Kieper stopped them all and Regina won their preseason opener 3-1.

Garrett Wright led the offence with two goals while Matthew Pesenti and Matthew Kieper combined to make 20 saves. The Pats outshot the Warriors 33-22, the powerplay was one for three and Regina did not have a shorthanded situation.

The Pats will continue the pre-season on Friday at home to the Saskatoon Blades at 7 p.m. at the Brandt Centre.
