Broatch Blazes to Win
July 1, 2015 - West Coast League (WCL)
Victoria HabourCats News Release
If you've ever heard the phrase "scattered xx hits in earning the pitching victory," the real life version was on display Tuesday night.
Langley Sr. Blaze right-hander Jordan Broatch, a former college pitcher who now splits much of his time as a personal trainer or youth baseball coach, literally scattered 10 base knocks over 8 and one-third innings, en route to a 2-1 non-league win over the Victoria HarbourCats.
The game was played in front of 2,441 at Sports Traders Diamond at RAP, and ended on a double play with the HarbourCats in position to win the game.
Kyle Francis was 3-4 with the lone Victoria RBI.
Keenan Chanin and Liam Rihela were both 2-5 for the Blaze. Langley hitters struck out 12 times, compared to just three Ks by Blaze pitchers. Langley scored one run in the third inning and one in the seventh, while the HarbourCats scratched one across in the eighth inning.
The two teams play again Wednesday, on Canada Day, a 1pm game (gates open at Noon), and it's 103.1 KISS-FM day at the park sponsored by Yates St Taphouse, including a pre-game appearance by the Victoria Skydiving Club.com, and a Citizenship Oath from judge Gerry Pash.
