Rogues Homer Way to Win

MEDFORD, OR - After last night's last grasp win over the Cowlitz Black Bears, the Medford Rogues grabbed another come from behind 3-1 win tonight at Harry and David Field. The win gives the Rogues an even 10-10 record in league play while Cowlitz drops to 9-11 in the league.

The Rogues were left chasing the lead after Cowlitz jumped to a 1-0 lead in the second. A walk with the bases loaded allowed the Rogues to even things up at 1-1 before a two run home run by left fielder Dan Mayer in the bottom of the fifth gave the home side the lead for good.

Mayer led the Rogues offensive charge with four at bats for two hits, one run, two RBI's, and a homer. Mayer's batting average for the season improved to .338. Second baseman John Kinne also put in a strong showing at the plate in 3 at bats for two hits and one run with his batting average resting at .294.

On the mound, Gabe Genter pitched six innings for the Rogues giving up two hits for one run which was earned while walking two and striking out one. Genter's ERA for the season stands at 4.97. Billy Olson came in and pitched three innings for the Rogues for two hits, no runs, and one strikeout while improving to a season ERA of 1.13.

Genter recorded the win for the night while Olson was credited with the save. Cowlitz's Callahan Neely picked up the loss from his 5.2 innings pitched. Neely gave up seven hits for three runs, all earned, along with three walks and five strikeouts.

The Rogues meet the Black Bears in the final game of the series tomorrow night at Harry and David Field. First pitch is set for 6:35pm.
