(Portland, Maine) - Drake Britton (5-5) tossed his first career complete game, a six-hit shutout, as the Portland Sea Dogs (33-28) beat the Erie SeaWolves (32-29) 2-0 in game one of a doubleheader at Hadlock Field. Game two was postponed due to rain and will be made up as a part of a twinbill on Wednesday night.
Britton dazzled over seven frames, scattering six hits, one walk and three strikeouts. In the seventh, Erie put two on with two outs, but the lefty retired Marcus Lemon on a groundout to seal the win.
Erie's Marcus Saupold (4-3) tossed a complete game in taking his second straight loss to Portland. Saupold yielded five hits and two runs over 6 IP.
Peter Hissey gave Portland a 1-0 lead in the second inning with a two-out RB double off the Maine Monster. Tony Thomas cleared the Monster in the sixth for his sixth homer of the season.
