Four-Run 2nd Inning Dooms Thunder in 6-5 Loss

TRENTON, NJ - A four-run 2nd inning game the Binghamton Mets a comfortable early lead Tuesday night against the Thunder in what was a 6-5 win for the Mets.

Trenton loses their first game in which Mikey O'Brien started after having won his first six starts. O'Brien drops to 4-1 on the season after needing 91 pitches to complete 4.0 innings. He allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits and three walks. O'Brien did match his Double-A career high with six strikeouts after recording six of the first eight outs of his outing via a strikeout.

First baseman Kyle Roller went 3-for-5 with a pair of homeruns. His 8th (a solo homer in the 2nd inning) and his 9th (a two-run homer in the 9th inning) were his first homeruns in June. Tuesday's game marked the first time this season that Roller- the team-leader in homers- had a multi-homer game. Roller is now 7-for-19 (.368 BA) in his last four games.

Ramon Flores and Neil Medchill each chipped-in with a pair of hits in the losing effort despite Trenton outhitting Binghamton 13-12.

The Thunder continue to play host to the the East Division-leading Binghamton Mets Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. The game features a starting pitcher matchup of LHP Matt Tracy (4-3, 5.22) against LHP Mark Cohoon (3-3, 4.60) for Binghamton.
