Britton Allows Just One Run in Seven Innings as Frederick Wins 6-1

For the fourth time in his last seven starts, Frederick Keys LHP Zach Britton pitched seven strong innings. The Keys gave him plenty of run support Tuesday night as they scored six times on 13 hits on the way to a 6-1 victory over the Kinston Indians.

The Keys jumped on the scoreboard in the first inning against Kinston RHP Bryan Price. CF Matt Angle led things off with a single. SS Pedro Florimon worked a walk, putting runners on first and second for 1B Robbie Widlansky. He grounded into a 6-3 double play, moving Angle up to third. 3B Brandon Waring lifted a bloop single down the right field line, scoring Angle, and making it 1-0.

Frederick would double its lead in the second. DH Wally Crancer lifted a solo homerun to right field. His eighth homer of the season gave the Keys a two-run lead.

The Keys struck again in the fourth. With two men down, Frederick loaded the bases for 2B Bobby Stevens. He delivered with an RBI-single, making it 3-0.

Price exited the game after the single. He lasted just 3.2 innings, having allowed three runs on six hits.

In the fifth, C Caleb Joseph and Crancer hit back-to-back RBI singles, making it 5-0.

The Keys scored again in the sixth. With two men down, Angle doubled to right field. Florimon knocked him in with an RBI-base knock, making it 6-0.

Kinston finally got on the scoreboard in the seventh. With one out, DH Ole Sheldon doubled. He scored on 1B Doug Pickens' single, making it a five-run game.

Britton left after the seventh. He allowed just the one earned run on five hits. He walked one and struck out six. It's the fourth time in seven starts Britton's pitched at least seven innings. The southpaw recorded 13 ground ball outs.

RHP Pat Egan came on to record the final six outs for the Keys. Britton (9-6) got the win. Price (3-7) took the loss for Kinston.
