Kansas City Brigade News Release

KANSAS CITY - Football is not always first for the Kansas City Brigade. As a gesture of goodwill to those who serve our communities, the franchise will hold its first Public Safety Appreciation Day to honor local police officers and firefighters. Over 40 Kansas City metro area police and fire departments have been invited to join the Brigade on Saturday, May 12 at 7 p.m. at Kemper Arena when the team takes on the Utah Blaze.

The day begins at 4 p.m. when police and fire personnel will park their vehicles in front of Kemper for fans to tour. The coin toss will be performed by senior officers of area departments who will then enjoy the game with their families from the owner's suite alongside Neil Smith. All current and retired police officers and firefighters and their families will be recognized at separate times during the game.

The Brigade is rewarding local departments with complimentary tickets and an additional ticket discount. Current and retired personnel and their families can receive $4 off any ticket to the May 12 game with no advanced purchase necessary.

In addition, on Thursday, May 10 from 10-2 p.m., Smith and the Brigade Girls will visit an area police station and firehouse to present VIP passes to a special police officer and firefighter who has shown bravery on the job and character in the community.

The Brigade's Military Appreciation Day, which will include participation from Fort Leavenworth and Whiteman Air Force Base, is scheduled for Saturday, May 26.
