Orlando Predators News Release

ORLANDO, Fla. (May 1) -- The Orlando Predators, in conjunction with the Arena Football League, have declared May 25 as Youth Football Night in Orlando when the Predators play host to the Utah Blaze.

As part of the celebration, the Predators will present national championship rings to the South Central Tigers, an inter-city Pop Warner Football team from Orlando that won a national championship and completed a 16-0 season in 2006.

The Tigers gained notoriety during the off-season when vandals broke into the teams meeting room and storage trailer, doing extensive damage to the facilities and smashing the team's national championship trophies for the players - who come from mostly underprivileged backgrounds.

Upon learning of the situation, the Predators - along with Trophies Unlimited - agreed to replace the trophies in time for the team's championship banquet. Predators star lineman Greg White participated in a fund raiser car wash and the Predators collected close to $2,000 in donations to help with repairs. Upon learning to the Tigers difficulty in raising enough money to purchase championship rings for the team, team president Brett Bouchy said the Orlando Predators would pick up the tab.

In addition, the Predators are offering free tickets to all youth football players and cheerleaders in the Central Florida area for its game against the Blaze when accompanied by a paying adult. Adult tickets are $19. There is a limit of two free youth tickets per paying adult and tickets must be reserved in advance by calling Mike Von Waldner in the Orlando Predators ticket office at 407-447-3321. The deadline for reserving tickets is Wednesday, May 23 and all tickets are based on availability at time of order.

'Almost all of our players grew up playing Pop Warner or some other form of youth football," Bouchy said. "Youth Football remains the cornerstone of growing the game of Arena Football and we want use our home game on May 25 to honor the South Central Tigers and all youth football participants."
