Orlando Predators News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. (May 1) - With the emergence of newcomer DARRELL WRIGHT on the defensive line, the Predators released defensive end CHRIS EGGLESTON on Wednesday afternoon.
Eggleston, 6-4, 285-lbs., was signed after a Week 3 win over Austin to replace the injured CHAZ MURPHY. He would play in four games, recording 5.5 tackles with a quarterback sack, three passes batted down and two blocked kicks.
With both Murphy and GREG WHITE out with injuries at the time, the Predators also signed Wright to their practice squad. Coaches placed Eggleston on the inactive list and activated Wright for the game last week against Las Vegas, and the rookie responded with 4.5 tackles, a pass defense and 1.5 quarterback sacks.
"Chris Eggleston did some good things for us and made some big plays," line coach WILLIE FEARS noted. "But consistency was an issue and we have a lot of good lineman battling for roster spots and playing time. We just felt that Darrell Wright was a more consistent player at that position."
