Georgia's Greisen, San Jose's Jones, And Chicago's Alfonzo Earn Week Nine Honors

NEW YORK - Georgia Force QB CHRIS GREISEN, San Jose SaberCats OL/DL RONALD JONES, and Chicago Rush WR/LB DEJUAN ALFONZO have been named Offensive Player, ADT Defensive Player, and Ironman of the Week, respectively, for Week 9 of the 2007 season.
OFFENSIVE: Greisen (6-3, 220, NW Missouri St) completed 19-of-23 passes (.826) for 243 yards and nine touchdowns as the Georgia Force defeated the New Orleans VooDoo, 72-57, in New Orleans on Friday. He also rushed for one touchdown accounting for 10 touchdowns in the game. Greisen led the League's highest scoring offense (65.7 ppg) to touchdowns on 10 of the team's 12 scoring drives, halting only to run out the clock at the end of the first half and to end the game as the Force tallied 275 yards of offense on 30 plays. This was Greisen's third consecutive game in which he accounted for 10 touchdowns. Georgia (8-1) hosts the Orlando Predators (5-3) on Friday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m. ET, (CSS - Delay, 5/5, 1 p.m. ET, SIRIUS Radio) at Philips Arena in Atlanta.
ADT DEFENSIVE: Jones (6-4, 275, Southern Miss.) registered 4.0 tackles, 3.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one pass defensed, and one quarterback hurry as he and the San Jose SaberCats defense held the Utah Blaze to a season-low 48 points to take control of first place in the Western Division with a 69-48 victory at HP Pavilion on Saturday. Jones, in his second AFL season, notched two of his sacks and recovered one of his two fumbles while defending the SaberCats red zone in the second half. His fumble recovery led to a touchdown on San Jose's first possession of the third quarter. The SaberCats (5-3) will travel to the U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix to take on the Arizona Rattlers (2-7) on Saturday, May 5, at 10 p.m. ET (FSN - Bay Area - LIVE, AFL NET).
IRONMAN: Alfonzo (6-0, 205, Indiana St.) recorded 9.5 tackles and forced two fumbles on defense while rushing for two touchdowns on offense as the Chicago Rush (7-1) defeated the visiting Philadelphia Soul (4-4) with a 54-43 come-from-behind victory at Allstate Arena on Monday. Trailing 21-13 in the second quarter, Alfonzo scored his first touchdown to bring the Rush within one at 21-20. He then scored his second touchdown on the Rush's first series of the fourth quarter to bring Chicago within two points at 43-41. Two plays later, Alfonzo forced a fumble from Soul WR CHARLES PAULEY to give the Rush a chance to take the lead in Philadelphia territory. Alfonzo registered tackles in three of the Soul's final five possession's that resulted in two turnovers during the comeback effort. The Rush will next face division rival Colorado (6-3) as they make their second straight appearance on Russell Athletic ESPN Arena Football Monday on Monday, May 7, at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN2 and ESPN360.com.
Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: New York's QB Aaron Garcia, Orlando's QB Shane Stafford, Chicago's WR Bobby Sippio, Tampa Bay's QB Brett Dietz, San Jose's QB Mark Grieb, and Los Angeles' QB Sonny Cumbie.
ADT Defensive Player of the Week candidates included: Colorado's DB Rashad Floyd, New York's DB Billy Parker, Chicago's OL/DL John Moyer, Los Angeles' WR/DB Eddie Canonico, Georgia's FB/LB Umar Muhammad and DB Reggie Doster.
Ironman of the Week candidates included: Dallas' WR/DB Will Pettis, Orlando's FB/LB Marlon Moye-Moore and WR/DB Clif Dell, Tampa Bay's WR/DB T.T. Toliver and WR/DB Lawrence Samuels, New York's WR/LB Chris Anthony, San Jose's FB/LB Phil Glover, and Colorado's FB/LB Anthony Dunn.
