
Bridgeport Sound Tigers Want You

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, will hold tryouts for their 2003-04 Ice Crew and national anthem singers next Wednesday, September the 24th from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard. Interested candidates for either position should report to the Sound Tigers office at 6 p.m. on September 24th. Additional information is available by calling the Sound Tigers at 203-334-GOAL.
Members of the Ice Crew work during Sound Tigers games at Harbor Yard assisting with promotional events, accompanying the Team Mascot Storm and enhancing the experience for fans of all ages. Interested candidates must be over 18 years of age, able to skate, be full of energy and have their own ice skates.
Vocalists interested in singing the United States and / or Canadian National Anthem at a Sound Tigers game should submit a resume along with a demo tape or CD to:

The Islanders will play the Boston Bruins in an NHL preseason game at Harbor Yard this Sunday, September the 21st at 4:05 p.m. Justin Papineau, Justin Mapletoft, Trent Hunter, Eric Manlow, Eric Godard, Brandon Smith, Radek Martinek, Sven Butenschon and Rick DiPietro, all of whom played for the Sound Tigers last season, are tentatively scheduled to be in the Islanders' lineup Sunday along with Alexei Yashin, Oleg Kvasha, Mariusz Czerkawski, Jason Blake, Michael Peca, Mark Parrish, Sean Bergenheim, Eric Cairns, Janne Niinimaa and Bruno Gervais.
Tickets for Sunday's game, the first-ever NHL contest in Bridgeport, are available at the Harbor Yard box office today through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., as well as on-line at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at 203-368-1000. The box office will also open at 12 noon on Sunday. Prices for the Islanders-Bruins game begin at $15 for children and $20 for seniors with information available by calling the arena at 203-345-2400 or the Sound Tigers at 203-334-GOAL.
The Sound Tigers will begin their third season of play this fall under the guidance of new Head Coach Greg Cronin. Information regarding 2003-04 Sound Tigers season tickets, partial plans, flex packs, group discounts, birthday parties, suite packages and sponsorship opportunities is available by calling 203-334-GOAL or logging on to www.soundtigers.com. The Sound Tigers will play a four-game preseason schedule including home games on Friday, September 26th at 7:35 p.m. versus the Worcester IceCats at Bridgeport's Wonderland of Ice and on Saturday, October 4th at 4:05 p.m. versus the Manchester Monarchs at the Winter Garden Arena in Ridgefield. They will open the regular season on the road versus the Hartford Wolf Pack on Friday, October 10th and will host the Philadelphia Phantoms in their home opener at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard on Saturday, October 11th at 7:05 p.m.
