Braves open road trip with shutout win

Louisville, KY - The Richmond Braves beat the Louisville Bats 4-0 Monday at Louisville Slugger Field. Three Braves pitchers combined to blank the Bats, holding Louisville to just four hits. The Braves opened an eight game road trip with their third straight win.

James Jurries smacked a home run to snap a scoreless tie in the sixth inning. Andy Marte homered in the seventh to make it 2-0. Richmond added a run in the seventh on a Jonathan Schuerholz sacrifice fly. Scott Thorman chased a run home in the eighth with an RBI single to give the Braves a 4-0 lead.

Kyle Davies tossed five innings to earn the win. He has pitched 12 consecutive scoreless innings since returning from Atlanta. Ken Ray threw two shutout innings and Frank Brooks completed the shutout with three strikeouts in two scoreless innings. Jimmy Serrano took the loss. Marte and Thorman had two hits each for Richmond. Miguel Perez had two hits for the Bats
