FORT MILL, S.C. - In the first game of last night's double-header, Knights outfielder Joe Borchard tied Jesus Alfaro (Charlotte O's 1982-84) for the most career hits in Charlotte history with 422.
Borchard's solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning was his team leading 25 home run of the season and also his 113 total hit this season. Borchard entered the 2005 campaign with 309 career hits and in 10th place all-time in the Charlotte record books.
Borchard also entered the 2005 season as the Charlotte Knights all-time hits leader and has now increased his lead over Brian Daubach (285) by 137 hits. On the season, Borchard is now batting .257 (113-440) with 25 HR, 18 doubles and 60 runs batted in.
The Knights will end their season series with the Toledo Mud Hens this evening with first pitch slated for 7:15 at Knights Stadium.
