Braves chewed out by RiverDogs

Rome, GA - The Charleston RiverDogs defeated the Rome Braves 4-3 Thursday evening at State Mutual Stadium in front of 3,013 fans.

Rome got on board in the first, after Chad Lundahl hit a homerun (1) allowing the Braves take the 1-0 lead. In the third, the RiverDogs went on top 3-1 after Dave Williams singled and advanced to second on an Austin Krum base hit. Abraham Almonte singled to load the bases. Justin Snyder then delivered a two run single advancing Almonte to third. He later scored the third run of the inning after Bradley Suttle grounded out.

In the eighth Rome tied the game as Jason Heyward singled and moved to second on a Freddie Freeman walk. Yohan Silva came into the game as a pinch runner for Freeman and Michael Fisher advanced both Heyward and Silva on a sacrifice bunt. Heyward scored on a sacrifice fly hit by Cody Johnson moving Silva to third. CJ Lee picked up an RBI after he reached on a fielding error by Justin Snyder scoring Silva to tie the game 3-3.

In the ninth inning Austin Romine singled, advanced after Brandon Laird walked. Taylor Holiday replaced Romine as the runner at second. Carmen Angelini advanced Holiday and Laird with a sacrifice bunt. Dave Williams singled to left field allowing Holiday to score the go ahead run resulting in the final score 4-3.

Chace Vacek (3-1) gets the win for the RiverDogs while Yeliar Castro (0-4) is tagged with the loss for Braves.

Rome hits the road tomorrow playing at Columbus through Sunday to end the first half of the season. The Braves will return home following the All-Star break against Savannah on Thursday, June 19th at seven for dollar drink night!
