New York Boulders News Release

Less than a week ago, the Boulders (30-28) struggled to find wins against the Capitals (35-23) north of the border. They had an easier time cruising to their first victory in nearly a week, as they topped Quebec 7-3 on Thursday night in the first of a four game set.

Boulders starter Justin Brantley bounced back from a below-average start in his last outing against Quebec last weekend. The right-hander threw 128 pitches over 7.1 innings. He gave up three runs (only one being earned) while walking three and striking out seven.

Jamie Keefe's offense got going early, scoring in the first on a Marcus Nidiffer 2-run single. The Capitals responded with one and two runs in the next two innings respectively, but the Boulders broke through in the 4th. Mike Montville cranked a two-run shot over the left field wall and Conor Biernfeldt drove in two on a double to left. They added one more in the next inning, on a Jason Agresti sac fly.

Tommy Lawrence didn't allow a baserunner over an inning and a third to close the door as Rockland snapped a four game skid.

They play game two tomorrow at 7:05pm EST.
