Injury Forces Release of Nyisztor

Ottawa Champions News Release
OTTAWA - Due to a nagging injury, the Champions have been forced to release a key member of their infield.
INF Steve Nyisztor has been dealing with a groin injury for a better part of the 2018 season. He has not made the progress he would have liked, and has made the decision to return home for an extended period of time.
Champions manager Hal Lanier is hopeful that Nyisztor's absence will be a short-term stint.
"We'll see if he can get it back to 100 per cent, and hopefully we see him wear a Champions uniform again this year," Lanier said. "He's a great guy."
Nyisztor first joined the Champions in early 2017, when he was traded to Ottawa from the Sussex County Miners in exchange for OF Adron Chambers on June 1 of that campaign. The 27-year-old made an immediate positive impact on the Champions, hitting .293 on the 2018 campaign.
This season, he once again made an early impression taking a leadership role on a younger Ottawa team. He knocked three home runs and 17 RBI this year in just under 40 games played, primarily toward the bottom of the Champions batting order.
Ottawa opens up a new series Thursday evening against the Trois-Rivieres Aigles. With the Champions trailing Trois-Rivieres by 5.5 games for the last Can-Am League playoff spot, this four-game series will be a pivotal point of the season. Tickets for all the weekend affairs are available at www.ottawachampions.com, in-person at the RCGT Park box office, or by calling 613-745-BALL (2255).
