Brahmas Sign New Goaltender

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (January 30) - On Monday, the Brahmas signed second-year netminder Adam Avramenko. As part of the transaction, goalie Steve Silverthorn was granted a team release.

Avramenko spent the 2010-11 season playing in the Southern Professional Hockey League for the Fayetteville FireAntz and the Augusta RiverHawks, as well as in the East Coast Hockey League for the Florida Everblades. He also played at Niagara Universtiy from 2007-2010, where he was a teammate of current Brahmas Jim Burichin and Chris Moran.

Silverthorn signed with the Dresden Ice Lions of the 2nd Bundesliga in Germany - the league in which the Owen Sound, Ontario native played from 2008 until joining the Brahmas at the start of this season.

The Brahmas are on the road to face off against the Bucks in Laredo on Wednesday, February 1 and Friday, February 3 and the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on Saturday, February 4. The team returns to North Richland Hills to host the rival Allen Americans on Friday, February 10 at the NYTEX Sports Centre at 7:30pm.
