QUACK TRACKS

Weekend

The Mallards recovered from a four-game losing streak by sweeping a pair of games from the Mavericks in Missouri last Friday and Saturday. The Flock's new-found momentum was slowed by a 5-1 loss last night in Wichita.

Tight

The Mallards pulled within one point of third place Missouri in the Turner Conference standings by sweeping the Mavericks last weekend. The Mallards are four points ahead of fifth place Rapid City but the Rush does have four games in hand on Quad City.

Bustin' Loose

The Mallards scored 13 times in their two games in Missouri last weekend after scoring a total of just two goals over their prior four games. The Mallards came within one goal of matching their season high last Saturday night when they defeated the Mavericks 8-3. For the season, only Wichita (148) has scored more goals than the Mallards (145).

Tough at the Top

The Mallards have gone 2-4-0 in the first six games of a stretch of seven straight against four clubs- Evansville, Fort Wayne, Missouri and Wichita- that all currently hold playoff positions and that are all now at least seven games over .500. the Mallards wrap up that rugged run with Friday's match-up with Fort Wayne.

Home Cooking

The Mallards have lost their last two home games after winning their prior seven home tilts.

While the Mallards have gone just 2-5-0 in their last seven road games, the Flock did halt a four-game away losing streak by picking up back-to-back victories in Missouri last weekend. The Mallards have gone 4-6-0 in their last seven away contests after going 8-4-0 in their first dozen road outings.

Power Play

The Mallards last Saturday scored a season high four power play goals on seven opportunities against the Mavericks. The Mallards now rank second in the league in power play efficiency (22.1 percent) and lead the league in total power play goals (48).

Double Down

The Mallards have scored nearly twice as many special teams goals as they have allowed. Quad City has produced 55 special teams goals (seven shorthanded in addition to 48 on the power play) and has given up 29 (28 power play and one shorthanded). The Mallards yesterday evening became the last team in the league to give up a shorthanded goal this season when Chris Chappell scored the Thunder's fourth goal during a Mallard power play.

Best Shot

The Mallards gave up a club season high 45 shots in last Saturday's win at Missouri and took a team season low 21 shots in last night's loss in Wichita. For the campaign, the Mallards lead the league in shots per game (37.1).

The Mallards finished January 6-7-0.

Shootout

With last Friday's win at Missouri, the Mallards improved to 4-1 in games decided in the shootout. The Flock is now 8-1 in games settled in either overtime or the shootout.

Little Big Man

Brandon Marino (27-30-57) is now tied for the league lead in points after scoring once and collecting three assists in last Saturday's win and producing seven points (three goals and four assists) in his last four games. With last Saturday's outburst, Marino matched a personal career high and a team season high for points in a game and also equaled the club season high for assists in a game. Marino also leads the league in goals and power play goals (10). He is tied for second in shorthanded goals (3) and ranks tenth in assists (30).

G-Man

Eric Giosa (19-32-51) recorded four points (two goals and two assists) in three games last weekend and established a career high for points by scoring in the Mallards' win last Friday. Giosa reached 49 points with that goal, eclipsing his previous career high of 48 points set last year. Giosa is tied for fourth in the league in assists, ranks fifth in point scoring and is tied for seventh in goals.

Brown Out

David Brown (8-4-0, 2.51, .917) posted back-to-back wins over the Mavericks last weekend and on Saturday night matched a team season high by making 42 saves.

Head-to-Head

The Komets have won three straight games against the Mallards after dropping the first meeting of the season between the two teams. Fort Wayne has won-back-to-back games at the i wireless Center. The Komets' Bobby Chaumont (2-5-7) is the top point producer in the season series, followed by the Mallards' Marino (2-4-6) and Fort Wayne's Brett Smith (3-3-6). The Blaze has won its last two games against Quad City after the Mallards took the first four games of the season series. Marino (5-4-9), Giosa (5-4-9) and Justin Chwedoruk (4-5-9) lead the way offensively in match-ups between the two teams.

Single Game Tickets

Single game tickets for all Mallards regular season contests are now available. Single game tickets are also available at the i wireless Center box office, at Ticketmaster outlets, through www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free. The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period. Individual game tickets are available for $12 in the upper level, $17 in the lower level and $25 for the first row along the glass for adults. Tickets for kids 12 and under are available for $5 off adult rates. In addition, tickets are available to military personnel for $2 off the regular adult rate.
