Brahmas Make Trade, Add Banga To Roster

January 5, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (January 3)- The Brahmas have added another offensive threat to their roster as they have acquired Travis Banga of Rio Grande Valley. Texas traded forward Topher Scott and future considerations from Wichita (center Matt Byrnes), Rocky Mountain and Rapid City to the Killer Bees.

Banga, 29, arrives from Rio Grande Valley where he has two years of his five year professional career in the Central Hockey League. In 246 games played, Banga has averaged over a point a game with 269 points (116 G, 153 A). The two time All-Star (2007 and 2008) had his second strongest season in his career last year, leading the Bees in scoring with 61 points (23 G, 38 A). Prior to playing with Rio Grande Valley, Banga spent three seasons in Memphis with the RiverKings.

Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong expects great things from Banga in a Brahmas uniform.

"Travis has been an all star in our league and will add a scoring touch and energy to the lineup. It is always tough to lose a guy, but we believe the addition of Travis will help us to our goal; the President's Cup," said Wildfong.

Banga is expected to play Friday night when the Brahmas travel to Mississippi for a 7:05 PM faceoff.
