1- The defending Ray Miron President's Cup champs took quite a while to get over the post-Thanksgiving slump they were in that saw them post a 3-9-0 record between November 28th and December 20th but the 'Dogs seem to have finally done it winning five straight games and all in very defensive-minded fashion. Goaltender Marco Emond has won all five of those games and has won back-to-back Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week awards. Over his hot stretch, Emond has allowed no more than one goal in any game and just four goals over that stretch. Arizona has outscored their opposition 15-4 during their win streak and has moved back to within a game of .500 at 16-17-1. If the playoffs were to begin today, the Sundogs would be the fourth seed in the Southern Conference.

2- The Texas Brahmas have road their current four-game win streak right to the top of the Southeast Division and to within just four points of the Southern Conference leading Odessa Jackalopes. The Brahmas are 20-9-3 and their 43 points are two better than the Laredo Bucks thanks in part to a 4-1 Brahmas victory in Laredo on Saturday night. Texas has been fueled by Jordan Cameron's nine points and Grant Jacobsen's seven points over their last five games and great play from goaltender Brett Jaeger who has allowed just six goals in his last four decisions, all wins. Texas continues their four-game road trip with games this week at Tulsa, at Oklahoma City and at Mississippi. The Brahmas have won four straight road games.

3- The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs are in quite a battle in the Northeast Division sitting in third place, two points behind the Mississippi RiverKings and four points behind the division-leading Oklahoma City Blazers. Despite their position, the 'Bugs have reason to be optimistic as one of the top goaltenders in CHL history, Ken Carroll, is rounding back into form. After two stints on the injured reserve earlier in the season, Carroll appears to be recovered and on top of his game. The league's all-time shutout leader with 26 has allowed just six goals in his last four games going 3-1-0 over that stretch. On the season, he is 7-4-1 with a 2.47 goals against average and a .921 save percentage. Carroll and the Mudbugs have a tough schedule this week playing at home versus Mississippi on Tuesday and then hitting South Texas for games at Corpus Christi, Laredo and Rio Grande Valley later in the week. The Mudbugs are just 5-7-2 versus the Southern Conference this season.

.936 The save percentage of Texas' Brett Jaeger during his current five-game win streak...The Brahmas netminder is 14-4-3 on the season ranking third in the league with a 2.37 GAA...He has allowed just nine goals during his five-game streak

1-6-1 The record of OKC goaltender Andy Franck since mid-November...the All-Star team starter in the 2009 All-Star Game has allowed 28 goals over that stretch

ONE-TIMERS

-Texas defenseman Justin Kinnunen's hat trick on Saturday night at Laredo was just the second for a Brahmas defenseman, the other was scored by Gatis Tseplis (12/26/99)

-Amarillo's Nick Theriault has three goals and five assists over his last five games and in just 19 games played with the Gorillas this season has four goals and 11 assists

-Brett Smith of the Mudbugs scored his 12th shorthanded goal in his 'Bugs career tying him for the franchise record with current Texas Brahmas head coach Dan Wildfong

-Mississippi traded forward Brad Bonello to Amarillo over the weekend in exchange for future considerations...Bonello has 10 goals and 14 points in 18 games with the 'Kings prior to the trade

-The Rapid City Rush finally won an extra session game this weekend topping the Rocky Mountain Rage on Sunday by a final score of 5-4 in overtime...The Rush entered Sunday's game 0-2 in OT and 0-5 in shootouts

-Rocky Mountain is 10-4-1 versus the teams of the Southern Conference this season including 3-1-0 versus the New Mexico Scorpions...The Rage, 9-3-1 in their last 12 games, face the Scorps on Wednesday and Friday this week

-Colorado's Ed McGrane currently has the longest active point streak in the CHL with points in eight straight games (12 points over that stretch)

-Wichita rookie Troy Ofukany had a career-high five points (3-2=5) and was a +4 in the Thunder's 7-2 win over Colorado on Saturday night...The first-year forward has 10 points (5-5=10) in his last five games
