Dec. 31 @ Rapid City Rush, 4-2 Loss - The Rage carried a 2-1 edge into the third period behind goals from Brent Cullaton and Domenic Maiani but gave-up a season-high 20 shots in the final frame as Rapid City scored three unanswered, including an empty-netter, to end Rocky Mountain's season-high three-game win streak.

Jan. 2 @ New Mexico Scorpions, 6-3 Win - Kai Magnussen scored his first two goals in a Rage sweater and David Morelli contributed a goal and two assists to lead Rocky Mountain to its third win on New Mexico's home ice this season.

SEASON REACHES MID-POINT After beginning the season with a record of 1-7-1 through the first four weeks of the campaign, the Rage went out and defeated New Mexico and Odessa on the road on Nov. 14 and 15 to begin to turn their fortunes around. With Sunday's overtime loss arrived the exact mid-point of the 64-game regular season, and Rocky Mountain has an overall record of 15-14-3 having gone 14-7-2 (.652 winning percentage) since its opening-month struggles.

CAREER MILESTONES ABOUND Three different Rage players reached career milestones against Rapid City yesterday. 10th- year forward Scott Wray played in his 600th professional game; 4th-year defenseman Pat Sutton suited up in his 200th pro game; and goaltender Scott Reid (seven full professional seasons) appeared in his 300th contest as a pro.

MO'S ON THE MOVE Two weeks ago third-year centerman David Morelli was eighth on the team in scoring with just 9 points in 25 games without a single multi-point effort. But over the last seven games since Christmas, Morelli has recorded at least two points five times. He is a +8 with 12 points (3g-9a) over that time span and is now fifth on the team with 21 points (9g-12a) overall.

GET SHORTY Daymen Rycroft and Brent Cullaton scored short-handed goals in consecutive games last week against New Mexico and Amarillo, respectively. Unfortunately, the team also gave-up short-handed goals in three consecutive games. After allowing two shorties in the first two games of the season, Rocky Mountain then went 27 games without yielding a short-handed goal until Friday in New Mexico. On the year, the Rage have six short-handed goals for and five against.

HOME COOKING Beginning on Saturday against Amarillo, the Rage entered a stretch where they will play 12 of 13 at Broomfield Event Center, which includes a franchise-long eight-game home stand from Jan. 11 - 25. What goes around comes around, though, as the team then plays 12 of 13 on the road with just one home game during the month of February.
