Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - Despite holding a 2-1 third-period lead, the Brahmas were unable to come away with a victory on Friday night as the Thunder scored three goals in a ten minute span to win 4-3.
The two teams headed into the third period tied at one goal apiece as Wichita's Aaron Davis scored on a first-period powerplay and Texas' Brendon Hodge scored a powerplay goal in the second period. For the Brahmas, it was their first powerplay goal since January 7 at Arizona.
Phil Fox opened the scoring in the third period off of a crossing pass from Jordan Kary to give the Brahmas a 2-1 lead with 14:27 to play in regulation. But the Thunder answered with three consecutive scores - one by Chris Greene and two by R.G. Flath. Brahmas captain Andrew Lackner added a goal for Texas at the 16:30 mark, but Wichita netminder Adam Russo and the Thunder defense were able to hold on for the final three and a half minutes.
Russo improved to 17-5-2, making 27 saves on 30 shots fired by the Brahmas. Texas goaltender Steve Silverthorn stopped 15 of 19 shots on net, falling to 8-10-5 on the season.
The Brahmas and Thunder will do it again on Saturday night at 7:30pm at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
