Bees Ink Russian Kirill Startsev

Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release


The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees, proud affiliates of the Florida Panthers and San Antonio Rampage, announced on Friday that forward Kirill Startsev has signed with the team. Startsev joins the Bees after playing in Russia.

The Omsk, Siberia native has played the past seven years in the Russian professional and junior system. Startsev, 22, played the last two seasons in the second-tier VHL with HK Ryazan and HK Sarov scoring 22 goals and recording 14 assists over a combined 88 games.

Startsev has played two games at the highest level of Russian hockey, at the time the Russian Superleague (which became the Kontinental Hockey League). Startsev suited up for the hometown Avangard Omask during the 2007-08 season.

In addition the Bees waived Trevor Hunt.

The Killer Bees are in action tonight against the Laredo Bucks at the Laredo Energy Arena. The puck drops at 7:30 and fans can follow the game on 956sports.com and CHL-TV.
