Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

HIDALGO, Texas - On Saturday, the Brahmas fell to the Killer Bees for the second night in a row as Tomas Klempa scored twice to lift Rio Grande Valley to a 3-1 victory and pull the two teams even in the Berry Conference standings.

Klempa scored the first two goals of the game. The first came at the 6:49 mark of the second period, as he cleaned up a loose puck off of a Mark Guggenberger save. His second goal gave the Bees a 2-0 lead at the 4:05 mark of the third period.

The Brahmas pulled within a goal when Brendon Hodge beat Bees netminder John Murray with 6:55 to play in the third period. But that would be all the scoring for the Brahmas on Saturday night, as Murray shut the door from then on. Zac Pearson added an empty-netter with 21 seconds left to seal the victory.

Murray made 26 saves on 27 Brahmas shots to earn his seventh win of the season and his first in over a month. Texas goalie Mark Guggenberger got the start and stopped seven of eight shots, but left the game midway through the second period. Steve Silverthorn replaced Guggenberger and made nine saves on 10 shots.

The Brahmas and Killer Bees are now tied for third place in the Berry Conference with 37 points. The two teams will do it again on Sunday, this time from the NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills at 5:00pm.
