HIDALGO, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (16-13-5) defeated the Texas Brahmas (15-13-7) on Saturday night with a final score of 2-1. Tomas Klempa scored his 15th and 16th goals of the season.

The first period was quiet as shots on goal were non-existent for both teams until eight minutes into the game. The Bees and Brahmas ended the first period in the single digits for shots on goal with five and four, respectively.

That was until Klempa found the loose puck in the crease and tapped it in from right under Guggenberger, giving the Bees a 1-0 lead.

The third period saw another goal from Klempa when he picked up a loose puck in the offensive zone and found the back of the net for an unassisted goal.

The Brahmas remained scoreless in the game until 13:35 into the third period when Brendon Hodge got one past John Murray.

John Murray made 26 saves in the net for the Bees.

The Bees held off the Brahmas advances for the rest of the game for the victory, their second in a row against Texas. Zac Pearson added an empty net goal in the win.

Aaron Lee earned the assist on the empty net goal in his 223rd game in a Killer Bees uniform, tying the franchise mark held by Ryan Shymr.
