Brahmas Comeback Bid Falls Short
November 26, 2003 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
A valiant comeback bid by the Fort Worth Brahmas came up just short Wednesday night in Corpus Christi as the Rayz were able to hold off a resilient Brahmas squad by a 4-3 score.
Corpus Christi jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period of play after
Rayz defenseman Mike Tilson and forward Ed McGrane scored goals. The
Brahmas cut the lead to 2-1 when forward Taras Foremsky scored his first
goal as a Brahma with just 40 seconds left in the opening period.
The Rayz then appeared to seize control of the game when McGrane and
Jonathan St. Louis found the back of the net in the first 6:24 of the
second period to make the score 4-1. Down by three goals, the gutty
Brahmas decided to rally. First, defenseman Adam Davis scored his first
goal of the season at the 14:08 mark of the second period. Then Foremsky
drew the Brahmas to within one goal midway through the third period with
his second goal of the game. Foremsky's goal sparked the Brahmas and they
pushed for the equalizing goal. Fort Worth sent wave after wave of
offensive attack towards Rayz goaltender Brent Belecki in the final ten
minutes of the game. Belecki, however, was up to the challenge, stopping
every Brahmas attempt, including a right wing shot from center Jeff Scharf
as the buzzer sounded to end the game.
Fort Worth's rookie goaltender Tyler Nilsson, who was making his third
consecutive start, had a solid effort in defeat, stopping 28 of the 32
Rayz shots sent his way. Belecki made 29 saves on 32 shots to earn the
win for the Rayz.
The loss was the Brahmas eighth in a row and drops their record to 2-12-3
on the season. Fort Worth wrap up a stretch of four consecutive road
games this Friday night, Nov. 28, when they travel to Bossier City,
Louisiana to battle the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. Game time will be
7:05 p.m. The game will be broadcast by the Brahmas live on KTFW 1460 a.m.
with the pregame beginning at 6:45 p.m.
