Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, Texas â The Laredo Bucks picked up four of a possible six points this past week. The Bucks improved to 12-3-1 and remain in first place in the Southeast division with 25 points. Last Wednesday the Bucks were defeated 4-3 by the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at the LEC. On Friday night the Bucks rebounded with a 4-2 victory over the Brahmas in Fort Worth. Saturday the Bucks returned home and gutted out a tough 4-2 win over the Corpus Christi Rayz. The Bucks are home this Thursday, Thanksgiving night, against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. SPECIAL EVENTS
· Thursday night the Bucks will select five fans at random from the LEC crowd to participate in a variety of games. Winners could walk away with a prize that includes a brand new house. The contests will be held during five selected home game running from Thanksgiving thru New Years Eve. Five different fans will be selected each night during the selected home games to shoot for different prizes. The list of prizes includes a trip for four to Cancun (sponsored by El Bufalo Pawn), a Rolex watch (sponsored by Deutsch & Deutsch), a plasma screen TV (sponsored by West Express Video & Games), a brand new SUV (sponsored by Ramirez Mitsubishi), and a brand new home (sponsored by WestWind Homes).

·The Bucks host the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees this Thursday, Thanksgiving night, at the LEC. Face-off is set for 7:30 p.m. The Bucks are on the road in San Angelo on Friday and on the road against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on Saturday.

RIO GRANDE VALLEY KILLER BEES
· The Bucks are 1-1-0 against Rio Grande Valley this year. Laredo beat Rio Grande Valley 6-0 on 11/08 at the Dodge Arena. The Killer Bees rebounded with a 4-3 win on 11/19 at the LEC.
SAN ANGELO SAINTS
· The Bucks are 2-0-0 this year against the Saints. Both games have taken place at the LEC. The Bucks won 6-3 on 10/24 and 5-2 on 11/02. Last year the Bucks went 4-2-2 vs. the Saints.
WHAT IS THIS POINTS THING?
· In the sport of hockey teams play for standings points. A team receives two points for every win and one point for every loss in overtime or a shootout. A team does not receive any points for a loss in regulation time.
PRETTY DARN GOOD
· The Bucks have earned 25 points so far during the 2003-04 CHL season. Thru 16 games the maximum points the Bucks could have earned is 32 total, so the Bucks have earned 69.4% of all possible points this year.
DISTINGUISHED BUCK
· Laredo Bucks forward Jeff Bes was selected Monday afternoon as the CHL Player of the Week. Bes had five goals in three games last week, including a hat trick on Friday night in Fort Worth. It was the first hat trick this year by a Bucks player. Bes has scored a goal in four straight games and is tied for fourth in the CHL scoring race with teammate and line mate Brent Cullaton. Bes and Cullaton are tied for the CHL lead with 19 assists.
CALL UPS
· Bucks forward Patrik Nilson was called up after last Friday night's game to San Antonio in the AHL. Nilson leads the Bucks with 11 goals.
TURNING THE RED LIGHT ON
· The Bucks lead the CHL with 69 total goals in 16 games, and lead the CHL with an average of 4.3 per contest. Laredo has scored five goals or more eight times this year, but has not done so in the last five games.
POWER PLAY SURGING
· The Bucks have scored multiple power play goals in three straight games. The Bucks are seven for their last 22 power play chances, converting at 31.8% during this stretch. The Bucks lead the CHL at 23.9% on the man advantage.
BUCKS WEEKLY GAME RECAPS
· 11/22/03 â SATURDAY â The Laredo Bucks answered their biggest gut check of the season as they gritted out a 4-2 win over the Corpus Christi Rayz at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The Bucks ended the game with just 10 skaters as they lost three players to ejections in the first period. Bucks head coach Terry Ruskowski was also ejected in the first. Playing a team that was superior in numbers and far healthier, the Bucks thoroughly out-hit, out-hustled and out-played the Rayz in a dominating second period that saw them score four times. The Bucks improved to 12-3-1 on the season and improved their Southeast division leading point total to 25. FINAL SCORE Laredo 4, Corpus Christi 2. · 11/21/03 â FRIDAY â The Laredo Bucks were tired, beat up and laboring until forward Jeff Bes scored with less than two minutes go to give the Bucks the lead and power them to a 4-2 win in front of 2,311 fans at the Fort Worth Convention Center. Bes finished with a hat trick, the first of the year by the Bucks, as he added an empty netter. The Bucks improve to 11-4-1 and with 23 points remain in first place in the Southeast division. Bucks goalie David Guerrera was outstanding, allowing just two goals on 31 shots and improved to 6-1-0. Both goals Guerrera allowed were on deflections that he had little to no chance to stop. FINAL SCORE Laredo 4, Fort Worth 2. Shots Laredo 26 Fort Worth 31 PP Laredo 2-6 Fort Worth 2-8
· 11/19/03 â WEDNESDAY â The Laredo Bucks fell behind early and despite putting up a furious effort were unable to draw even and fell 4-3 to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees before 5,727 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Bees' goalie Jeff Levy was tremendous as he faced a barrage of shots and only surrendered three goals and dealt Laredo their first regulation loss on home ice since February. The Bucks drop to 10-2-1, but remain in first place in the Southeast division with 21 points. FINAL SCORE Rio Grande Valley 4, Laredo 3. Shots Laredo 38 Rio Grande Valley 17 PP Laredo 2-7 Rio Grande Valley 0-7
