Coach Rosco Honored With A Roast

LAREDO, Texas - The Laredo Hotel and Motel Association honored Laredo Bucks head coach Terry Ruskowski by roasting him last night at the Laredo Country Club. The 3rd annual roast was in recognition of Ruskowski receiving the Laredo Hospitality Award. The Bucks are home this Thursday night against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. "We wanted to honor coach because of all the tourism he has helped bring to Laredo," said D.J. Utterback, assistant general manager of La Posada Hotel. "Coach Rosco and the Bucks have done a terrific amount of work in the community. When his name came up when we were discussing who to honor this year, no other names were mentioned after that."
Earlier this year Ruskowski was selected the 2003 Paul Harris Fellow for the Laredo Under Seven Flags Rotary Club. Several roasters entertained the crowd last night with anecdotes from Ruskowski's past and present.
"I am honored and flattered," said Ruskowski. "I have never been treated so well in all my life as I have been in Laredo. We are going to continue to work hard to put a competitive team on the ice and a team that the town of Laredo can be proud of."
