Brahmas busted by 'Bugs

Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (February 22)- The long and winding road from Mississippi paid a toll on the Texas Brahmas as they were shutout by the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 2-0 Friday night.

A scoreless first saw very few shots but plenty of action as eight penalties were served, four a piece. Brahmas goaltender David Cacciola stopped all nine shots and Mudbugs goaltender Ken Carroll stopped six Texas shots.

The second reflected the opening period as the goalies were able to keep scorers off the sheet. A glimpse of offensive life finally shined in the third period, but unfortunately for Brahmas fans the glimmer came from Mudbug Joe Ori when he was able to slap a shot past Cacciola at the 2:59 mark.

In an effort to get on the board in the winding minutes, Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong pulled David Cacciola with 1:31 remaining in the game. Eleven seconds later Bossier center Jason Campbell scored on empty net goal to send the Mudbugs home with a 2-0 victory.

The Texas powerplay went 0-6 for the evening and 'Bugs netminder stopped all 26 shots to earn his fifth shutout of the season.

The Brahmas will hit the ice at NYTEX once again tomorrow night to face the Wichita Thunder for a 7:05 PM faceoff. The first 1000 fans will receive a Brahmas poster courtesy of North Hills Hospital. Fans will also be able to witness the Brahmas in specialty jerseys from Reliant Energy. Following the game, all Brahmas' game worn jerseys will be auctioned off for the fans. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423.
