Bradley Propels RubberDucks to 7-6 Victory

Akron's Bobby Bradley socked a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning Friday night, his first and the team's first of the season, to give the RubberDucks a thrilling, come-from-behind, 7-6 victory over the Altoona Curve at PNG Field in Altoona, Pa.
Turning Point
Bradley came up in the ninth with one out, and Tyler Krieger on first base following a single. Bradley worked a 1-0 count from Curve right-hander Tate Scioneaux (0-1) and drilled a long homer to right field to give the RubberDucks (1-1) a 7-6 lead. It was Bradley's first dinger and first hit of the season. He finished 1-4 on the night.
Mound Presence
Akron righty Leandro Linares (1-0) shined in his 2018 debut, tossing two scoreless innings to claim the win in relief. He allowed a single to the Altoona clean-up hitter, Logan Hill, when he entered the game in the eighth inning, but retired the next six batters he faced to close the deal. Akron starter Aaron Civale worked into the fourth inning in his Double-A debut. He was victimized by less-than-ideal defense that led to five of his six runs being unearned.
Duck Tales
After the Curve (1-1) batted around and scored four times in the fourth inning, the RubberDucks trailed, 6-0. Altoona starter Dario Agrazal did not allow a hit in his six innings of work. When lefty Jake Brentz entered the game in the 7th, fortunes turned in Akron's favor. Andrew Calica smacked a lead-off double to right field to wreck the no-hit bid. Brentz then proceeded to walk the next four batters to force in a pair of runs. Altoona's Sam Street was brought in to replace Brentz, but he hit Kai'ai Tom in the back to force in another run. Krieger added an RBI fielder's choice grounder to make it 6-4. In the eighth, Joe Sever smacked a clutch RBI single off Yeudy Garcia to narrow Altoona's lead to 6-5.
Notebook
Akron committed five errors in the game, including three consecutive miscues on ground balls by Altoona's first three hitters of the game...With a run in and two on with two outs in the first, Tom made a sensational, diving catch in deep center field to rob Ke'Bryan Hayes of an extra-base hit...Each team used five pitchers...Every hitter in the Akron lineup reached base via a hit, walk or hit-by-pitch...Time of game: 3:05...Attendance: 2,592.
