Brachold's Single Lifts RedHawks past Canaries

FARGO - Keith Brachold hit a bases-clearing single to give the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks a 4-2 victory over the Sioux Falls Canaries in front of 3,767 fans at Newman Outdoor Field on Tuesday evening.

Brachold went 2-for-4 in the game, including a single in the eighth after the Sioux Falls Canaries' Matt Daly gave up walks to Nic Jackson and Ronnie Bourquin. Buddy Sosnoskie with a hot night at the plate, went 3-for-4 with two triples and a run scored.

Tuesday's game proved to be a rubber-match through the first six innings as both sides only plated one run apiece. Both starting pitchers earned no-decisions after going seven innings each. Fargo-Moorhead lefty Jake Laber (4-5) gave up one run on five hits and seven strikeouts. Canaries' starter Ben Moore (6-3) was tagged with two runs on seven hits and topped out with eight strikeouts.

"There was some fine pitching in this game," said Manager Doug Simunic. "Moore was outstanding and Laber matched him pitch-for-pitch."

Canaries' J.P Ramirez and Anthony Trajano each had two hits in the game for Sioux Falls.

Joe Harris earned hit sixth win on the season after coming in to replace Danny Gutierrez for the final out in the eighth. Gutierrez gave up one run on one hit and two walks. Chase Johnson earned his 12th save of the season with a scoreless ninth.

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks improved to 34-23 on the season with the victory as the Sioux Falls Canaries fell to 23-34.

The RedHawks and Canaries meet for game three at 7:02 p.m. Wednesday at Newman Outdoor Field for Breast Cancer Awareness Night.
