LAREDO, TX (July 16, 2013) - The St. Paul Saints jumped out to an early lead, but couldn't hold it as they lost game one of the double header to the Laredo Lemurs 4-3 at Uni-Trade Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Saints jumped on Lemurs starter David Newmann in the first inning as Adam Frost led off with a double. He moved to third on a groundout and scored on a single by Brad Boyer to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. Willie Cabrera's double moved Boyer to third and Brandon Tripp's sacrifice line out made it 2-0.

The lead lasted until the third when the Lemurs got to Saints starter Mark Hamburger. With one out Jimmy Mojica reached on an infield single to short. Garrett Rau's double to right moved Mojica to third. With two outs John Alonso and John Allen added RBI singles to tie the game at two.

The Saints wasted little time in taking the lead back as Tripp was hit by a pitch with one out in the fourth. With two outs and Tripp at second Hernandez doubled down the left field line scoring Tripp to give the Saints a 3-2 lead.

In the fifth the Lemurs took the lead for good. Sawyer Carroll led off with a double to right. Alonso's infield single to third coupled with a throwing error on the play by Joey Becker allowed Carroll to score and tie the game at three. With one out Mike Sheridan walked and Brian Peterson, who finished 3-3, singled to load the bases. Mike Provencher then walked to force in the go ahead run. Hamburger went 5.0 innings allowing four runs on 12 hits while walking three and striking out six.

In the seventh the Saints had a great opportunity to tie the game when Ole Sheldon led off with a single and Hernandez followed with a walk. Dwight Childs, however, popped a sacrifice bunt up to third and pinch runner Donald Blunt was doubled off second. Dan Kaczrowski grounded out to end the game.
