
Brachold stays hot; 7th multiple-hit game in last 10

Brockton, Mass. - Four different players had a pair of hits for Brockton, but it wasn't enough as the New Jersey Jackals defeated the Rox, 4-3, in a Can-Am League affair at Campanelli Stadium on Thursday evening.
New Jersey (18-11) drew first blood with 2B Argenis Reyes' leadoff home run to start the game, his first of the season. The score stayed 1-0, Jackals, until the fourth, when Brockton (15-12) tied things up with 3B Jorge Jimenez's homer to start the inning. The Jackals regained in the lead in the sixth on DH Mike Jones' two-run blast, and added an insurance run the following inning on Reyes' RBI single to make it a 4-1 game.
The Rox tallied a run in the seventh on Jimenez's sacrifice fly, bringing home CF Chris Valencia. Brockton then threatened in the bottom of the ninth; SS Dominic Ramos led off the inning with a double and scored on Trey Hernandez's pinch-hit RBI double, bringing the Rox to within one run, but Jeremy Hunt was brought in to shut the door for his first save of the season.
Shaun Ellis (3-0) registered the win for the Jackals, allowing a run on six hits in six innings, of work, fanning two. Freddy Flores (2-1) picked up the loss, throwing six and two-thirds innings, giving up four earned runs on seven hits. For Brockton, Valencia, RF Keith Brachold, DH Melvin Falu and Ramos each had two hits. It was Brachold's seventh multiple-hit evening in his last ten games. Reyes went 4-for-5 for New Jersey, while Jones finished the evening 3-for-5.
The two teams renew acquaintances Saturday evening at Campanelli Stadium at 7:05 p.m. in the second game of the three-game set.
