
Bowman Named WHL Player of the Month

Spokane Chiefs forward Drayson Bowman has been named the WHL Player of the Month for November after scoring 13 goals, 11 assists, 24 points and posting a +16. Bowman recorded two hat-tricks, two more two goals games, recorded a point in 10 of the 11 games and was named the Canadian Hockey League's Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks in the final two weeks of the month.
In a career high five point night, the Littleton, Colorado native had three goals and two assists in a 6-0 win over the Chilliwack Bruins. Bowman also had two more four point nights and has moved into a second place tie for scoring in the WHL with 25 goals, 20 assists and 45 points. His 25 goals are first in the WHL. The Chiefs and Bowman finished the month at 9-1-0-1.
Bowman was selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the third round (72nd overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry.
Spokane remains on the road with two of the six games remaining during the longest stretch away from the Arena this season. Tuesday night, the Chiefs will visit Edmonton for their first ever match-up with the expansion franchise Oil Kings. Wednesday night, Spokane will travel to Lethbridge to finish five games in six nights.
The Chiefs have gone 3-1 to this point, including a win at Tri-City on November 24th. Spokane began this trip through the Central Division with a win over Calgary on Friday. Medicine Hat handed Spokane a 4-3 loss before a 2-0 win on Sunday at Red Deer.
Spokane sits on top of the U.S. Division with the league's best record of 21-4-1-2 and 45 points.
The Chiefs will return home on Saturday night versus Swift Current with the annual Teddy Bear Toss presented by The Spokane-Review Christmas Fund. Fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently used Teddy Bear to the game and toss it onto the ice when Spokane scores their first goal of the game. All Teddy Bears collected will be distributed to those in need throughout the community with The Spokesman-Review's Christmas Fund.
