Florence Y'alls
Evansville, Indiana: Florence came into last night's game knowing this series was key in the play-off picture in the Frontier League East division, and they furthered there lead for the second and final play-off spot, defeating Evansville, 3-1.
Josh Sanchez lead the offense for Florence, he went 2-4 on the night, but his big hit came in the second, a two run single scoring Clint Chauncey and Scott Martin. Scott Martin added an RBI double in the fourth, and that's all Jason Bowlin needed. Jason Bowlin (9-1) pitched great, going seven innings, giving up only one unearned run on seven hits, striking out 10. Bowlin lowered his season ERA to 2.91, good for eighth in the Frontier League. Mickey O'Quinn came in and pitched a shutout eighth inning; his ERA now stands at a cool 1.42. That setup Ted Rowe's league leading 13th save of the season.
Player of the Game:
SP Jason Bowlin
Bowlin went seven innings with 10 Ks, 1 unearned run, and he picked up his ninth win of the season.
After defeating the Otters and the Chillicothe Paints losing to Washington, the Freedom now have a six game hold on the final playoff spot over Chillicothe, and a six and a half game lead over Evansville. Florence plays two more in Evansville, before returning home to face the Chillicothe Paints Friday, at 7:05 for back-to-school weekend at Champion Window Field.
