August 10, 2005 - Frontier League (FL)
Windy City ThunderBolts News Release
Crestwood, IL - The River City Rascals plated at least one run in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th. The Bolts plated runs in the 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 8th. River City downed the ThunderBolts 14-10 Wednesday night at Hawkinson Ford Field.
River City had the advantage 11-3 after the top of the 6th frame thanks in large part to shortstop Justin McKinley. His RBI double in the 6th capped a series of three at-bats in which he plated 4 runs including himself on a solo homer in the 5th. McKinley has tallied 13 base knocks in the season series of 8 games.
After the shortstop's double, River City snared an 8-run lead. 4 straight batters reached with one out in the 6th inning. That brought Justin Schuda up with the bases loaded. He conked a grand slam off of reliever Wes Hutchison to make the score 11-9.
But, River City pushed the score to 14-9 in the away portion of the 7th inning. Jon Wright and Jon Williams each drove a run home in the stanza against the Bolts' bullpen. Windy City sent a final tally across on Nick Klusaw's 2nd hit of the night. It was an RBI single that chased Jason Crosland home.
Rascals first baseman Mike Madrid finished the game at 4-for-6 with 4 driven in. Nick Ewen added a season-high 3 RBI for Windy City. The loss broke a two-game string of victories for the Bolts over their division rivals.
Righthander Preston Simms had his shortest outing of the campaign. He lasted just 2 innings and two-thirds and surrendered 9 hits in the contest. Brian Keating earned the win for the visiting Rascals in 5 innings and one out.
Tomorrow's game marks the rubber match of the series with River City. The Bolts have dropped both of the first two sets against the club from O'Fallon, MO. Windy City turns to Josh Glynn to win the deciding game. He tossed 6 frames of scoreless ball against Ohio Valley Saturday for his 5th victory of the 2005 year.
