Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

Glenn Bott has called it a career.

Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today that southpaw Bott, one of Winnipeg's top pitchers last year, has decided to retire.

Bott went 7-7 in 2006 with a 3.79 earned run average while leading all NL starters with a 3.2-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. But he struggled to a 3-3 record this year with a 5.51 ERA, opponents were batting .290 against him and he averaged less than six innings per start.

Winnipeg now has 20 players on its roster, split evenly between pitchers and position players.

Following the final game of a four-game series tonight in Calgary, the Goldeyes head to Fargo tomorrow for three games with the RedHawks. They next play at CanWest Global Park on Tuesday when Calgary comes to town, the first of six games Winnipeg plays at home against the Alberta clubs.

Game time is 7 p.m. and great seats are still available at all Ticketmaster locations, including the ballpark box office, by calling 780-3333 or by visiting ticketmaster.ca.
