Lake County Captains News Release
(Midland, MI) - Jesse Bosnik of the Great Lakes Loons blasted a 415 ft homerun to right field to put the Loons up by two runs in the bottom of the forth inning. The homer proved to be the difference in the 5-4 win on Tuesday Night.
The Captains again got on the board first as LeVon Washington led off the ball game with a single and advanced to second on an error on the third baseman. Francisco Lindor's groundball moved Washington along and then the Alex Monsalve brought Washington in. The Captains led after one inning 1-0.
The Captains added on in the second inning when they scored another single run when Robel Garcia doubled to the left center field gap. An error allowed Garcia to move to third and then a sacrifice fly by Alex Lavisky brought home Garcia. The score was 2-0.
Great Lakes answered in the bottom half of the second when they started the inning with back-to- back singles and then saw Jesse Bosnik hit a game tying double into the gap. The score was tied at two. Those two RBI's were half of the four that Bosnik plated Tuesday.
The Captains made it close in the ninth when with two outs, Lindor tripled home Washington who singled before him. The score was 5-4. That was the final of the game. Alex Lavisky had two hits for Lake County and also threw two runners out who were trying to steal bases.
Captains starter Kyle Blair (0-1) got the loss working four innings on five hits, allowing four earned runs, walking one and striking out five. Cody Anderson (0-0) relieved Blair and pitched four innings himself allowing just one run and fanned seven.
The Loons starting pitcher Arismendy Ozoria (0-0) did not factor in the decision. Ozoria only lasted 4.1 IP allowing five hits three runs two of which were earned. Juan Noriega (1-0) got the win after pitching a scoreless 2.1 innings. Yimi Garcia came on for his first save of the season.
