Boomers Rally to Third Straight

CRESTWOOD, Ill. - The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, erased an early 4-0 deficit to collect an 8-6 victory over the Windy City ThunderBolts in the opener of a series on Friday night.

Windy City scored four runs on five straight hits in the bottom of the second against starter Josh Heddinger. Jordan Dean tripled and scored in the third to bring the Boomers within 4-1. Josh Gardiner doubled home a pair in the fourth and RBI singles from Dean and Dusty Robinson put Schaumburg ahead in the four-run outburst. Paul Kronenfeld homered in the fifth to make the score 6-4. The ThunderBolts evened the game in the sixth before an RBI single from Justin Byrd put the Boomers ahead again.

Heddinger worked five innings, striking out four. Jake Joyce earned the win in relief, moving to 3-2 on the year. Dexter Price added to his career record save total with his second of the season. All nine starters reached base in the win. Schaumburg mashed out 13 hits with five collecting a pair. Schaumburg owns 10 comeback wins this season.

The Boomers (11-14) have won three in a row and send RHP Seth Webster (2-1, 2.83) to the hill on Saturday night in a 6:05 p.m. affair against RHP Ryan Strombom (2-1, 5.57).
