
Washington Beats Lake Erie Crushers 5-1

The Washington Wild Things opened a three game series with the Lake Erie Crushers with a 5-1 victory Friday night.
Starting pitcher Trevor Foss (4-2) struck out seven batters and allowed just one run off six hits in nine innings pitched.
The Wild Things did not take long to get on the board as Nick Ferdinand drove in the first run of the game with an RBI double set up by a Ricky Rodriguez single in the top of the 2nd.
Logan Uxa connected in the top of the third with an RBI single that would bring home Jimmy Yezzo and Ricky Rodriguez to extend the lead to 3-0.
A walk and single by Ricky Rodriguez set up a two run RBI single by Nick Ferdinand to again extend the lead to 5-0.
The Crushers managed to cut into the Wild Things' lead in the bottom of the 5th on a sacrifice fly by Parker Norris that would bring home William Beckwith, cutting the lead to 5 -1.
Washington and Lake Erie will meet again Saturday for game two of the series; first pitch is schedule for 7:35 EDT.Â
