Bombers' Goodson tabbed as BC® Powder Pitcher of the Week

The South Atlantic League announced on Friday that Greenville pitcher Matt Goodson has earned the BC® Powder South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week honors by going 1-0 with a perfect 0.00 ERA in his two starts this past week.

Goodson struck out 13 batters, allowed only 5 hits and 4 walks in his 11.2 innings pitched. The Texas native got the win in his June 21 start at Columbus in the Bombers 5-0 victory. The 22-year old pitcher pitched 6.2 innings in the game, allowed 4 hits and struck out 8 batters in the outing which brought his record to 5-4 on the season. The Red Sox 23rd round draft pick in the 2004 draft, the Galveston (TX) College product has a 2.90 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 71.1 innings pitched in 2005.

The first-place Bombers continue their four-game homestand on Friday against the Asheville Tourists. The Bombers "Patriotic Weekend" will feature fireworks displays following the team's Saturday and Sunday games. Both games will be played at 7:05 p.m. to accommodate the firework shows following the games.
