June 21, 2019 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release

It was a good day at the plate for the Bombers but they were unable to capitalize on eight hits falling to the Pit Spitters 6-1.

Bomber's pitcher Josh Hranicky started things off by walking Hudson Byorick. Byorick would be moved by a single and two bunt attempts to score the first run of the game.

The Bombers wouldn't even the score until the 4th inning when Jack Merrifield would come home after a leadoff single, a walk and an RBI single from Michael Morissette. Traverse City was quick to answer regaining the lead in the fifth.

Byorick started the top of the 5th inning with a double, his hit was followed by a Mario Camilletti single and a Michael Slaten strikeout. That would bring up the designated hitter Andrew Morrow. Morrow took advantage of the opportunity by hitting a three-run home run to dead centerfield regaining the lead for Traverse City. Morrow would finish the night 2-4 with a home run, a single and five RBIs.

The Pit Spitters extended their 4-1 lead to a 5-1 lead in the 7th inning and added one more in the 8th.

The Bombers were unable to muster a comeback in this one and would fall short to a final score of 6-1. Battle Creek left 12 runners on base throughout the game. Battle Creek is back in action tomorrow night on the road when they take on the Great Lakes East division leading Kokomo Jackrabbits.
