Green Bay Rockers News Release
Just as the Bullfrogs did in Friday's game, the Bombers used a big sixth inning to take the lead for good on Saturday, propelling them to a 10-6 victory.
Green Bay started out the scoring in the first inning with a bases loaded walk to Ryan Drobny to score Jimmy Coady. Bryant Burleson scored later in the inning on a wild pitch from Kyle Slack to take a 2-0 lead after the first inning.
In the second inning, Mathtew Fears got the Bombers on the board with a solo home run to left field. Fears hit his fifth home run of the season to cut the lead in half for a 2-1 'Frogs lead.
The Bullfrogs loaded up the bases again in the second inning. After an RBI double from Robert Youngdahl, Tripp Martin drove in Youngdahl from third base on a sacrifice fly. Green Bay led it 4-1 after two innings, and appeared to be on cruise control.
The Bombers and Bullfrogs both brought around one in the fifth before the flood gates opened up for Battle Creek hitters in the sixth.
Battle Creek had four singles and two doubles in the six-run sixth inning that gave the Bombers an 8-5 lead over the 'Frogs.
Green Bay walked another run home in the eighth inning, cutting down the Bombers lead to 8-6 after eight innings.
Battle Creek came back to score two more runs on a double from Tyler Moore in the top of the ninth, making the Bomber lead 10-6.
Green Bay was unable to get anything going in the ninth. The Bullfrogs went down in order and fell to the Bombers 10-6. The win went to Bombers reliever Brian Heldman (2-2), and loss to Bullfrogs starter Ben Graff (0-3). The loss snapped a modest three game winning streak for the Bullfrogs.
The rubber match between the Bullfrogs and the Bombers will be Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 p.m. Come out to Joannes Stadium for Wildfire Day Presented by Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary and Family Fun in the SUNdays Presented by Pizza Ranch with Star 98.
