Thunder Bay Border Cats News Release


The Border Cats lost for the fourth time in five games to St. Cloud this week as they fell 4-3 to the Rox before 815 fans Friday night at Subway Field. The Rox had a 4-1 lead entering the bottom of the 9th inning before the Cats rallied with a two-run double off the bat of Tyler Duplantis (Nicholls State University). Thunder Bay had the tying run in scoring postion with two out, but couldn't cash it in as the Cats second half record dropped to 2-7. The Cats twice left the bases loaded and stranded 11 runners on the night.

Jason Vosler (Northeastern University) led the Cats at the plate, going 3-4 with a run scored, while Duplantis went 2-5. Chris Kerwood (Arkansas State University) took the loss to fall to 3-3. The righthander pitched six innings and gave up 11 hits and four runs. Steven Pastrana (Dominican College) threw three scoreless innings in relief with three strikeouts, but did allow an inherited runner to score when he hit a batter with the bases loaded.

The Cats and Rox wrap up their two-game series tonight at 6:05pm as Thunder Bay plays its final home game until July 25th. Clint Knoblauch (Florida Gulf Coast University) will take his 2-4 record to the mound for the Cats.
