Boise Hawks News Release
Behind an impressive, seven-inning start from Frederis Parra, the Boise Hawks (Short Season A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies) shutout the Everett AquaSox (Short Season A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners) 11-0 at Memorial Stadium to take the series victory.
Parra dazzled fans with a quality start of seven innings, five hits allowed, one walk and striking out five. Reliever Trent Fennell followed Parra's performance striking out the side in the eighth inning, and closing out the game with runners at second and third.
Tacking on three runs in a single inning seems to be the Hawks' identity in the early parts of 2019. Tonight against the AquaSox, the Hawks scored three in the first inning and in the seventh. They have now scored three runs in five single innings over six games.
Boise also has scored three or more runs seven times in the last six games. They also notched four runs on the scoreboard in the sixth inning. This was the third win in a row for the Hawks as well.
The first inning began with a leadoff-double from Isaac Collins, who later scored off of an RBI-single from Aaron Schunk. This was Schunk's first professional RBI. After a single from Trey Jacobs then two consecutive outs, Bladimir Restituyo lifted a ball up to left but it was mishandled by Everett left fielder Cade Marlowe, scoring both Schunk and Jacobs making it 3-0 Boise.
They wouldn't give up the lead past that point. The sixth inning saw four runs highlighted by a two-out, RBI-triple from Collins that made it 7-0 Hawks leading it.
Multiple runs would continue in the seventh inning. After a Schunk walk, Jacobs singled, then Joe Aeilts collected his third RBI of the season on a liner to left giving the Hawks a nine-run lead. After a Restituyo single and a lineout, Nic Motley gathered his first RBI of the season off of a groundout to second. The next batter, Zach Hall, singled to right field bringing around Aeilts for the 11-0 final score.
The final game of the homestand will be on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. against the AquaSox with Zak Baayoun projected to make his first start of his professional career.
