
Boise Allows Five Runs in the 5th, Everett Wins 9-4

The Boise Hawks (24-25) fell to the Everett AquaSox (26-23) by a final score of 9-4 on Friday night. The Hawks allowed five runs in the 5th inning as Everett can now take the series with a win tomorrow.
Mike Nikorak made the start for the Hawks, and the right-hander, despite walking one, faced four batters and did not allow a run. It was Nikorak's first start on the mound since July 28, 2016 as he returns from Tommy John surgery.
In the top of the 2nd inning, after singles from Daniel Jipping and Kennard McDowell. Boise got a blast from Cole Anderson.
Anderson hit a three-run home run, his 4th home run of the year and the Hawks took a 3-0 lead.
Javier Medina worked quickly for Boise through the 2nd and 3rd inning for the Hawks, but the right-hander gave up three runs in the 4th inning. A solo home run for Bobby Honeyman made it 3-1, and later in the inning it was a two-run home run for Ryan Ramiz making it 3-3.
Honeyman finishes his night going 3-5, a home run and three RBI.
Cade Harris broke the tie in the 5th inning on his 4th home run of the year, a solo shot, to make it a 4-3 lead for the Hawks. But again, Everett had an answer. The AquaSox got five runs off Keinter Olivares in the 5th as Connor Kopach capped it off with an RBI-single to make it 8-4.
The AquaSox added another run in the 6th when Bobby Honeyman had an RBI single.
For the Hawks Bobby Johnson went two innings without allowing a run, but the Hawks couldn't add anymore on offense and dropped the third game of the series. Boise is now 24-25 on the season and 3-8 in the 2nd half. The AquaSox go to 26-23 overall and 6-5 in 2nd half play.
Boise will play the 4th game of the series in Everett tomorrow at 8:05 MT. The Hawks will return home after the All-Star break on August 9th for "Thirsty Thursday" against the Spokane Indians. First pitch will be at 7:15 MT. Get your tickets at BoiseHawks.com or call 208-322-5000.
