(Ron Tonkin Field - Hillsboro, OR) - Canadians LHP Randy Pondler (3-4) won his third straight decision going six strong innings to pace Vancouver to a convincing 7-0 win over Hillsboro on Friday night. The win moves Vancouver back into a three-way tie for top spot in the North Division with 27 regular season games remaining.

Pondler allowed just four hits over his six innings of work as the native of Nicaragua struck out three while keeping the Hops at-bay. Canadians relievers RHP Justin Watts (1.0IP, 0H, 0R, 1SO) and LHP Marcus Reyes (2.0IP, 1H, 0R, 1BB, 4SO) worked to complete the shutout bid, Vancouver's 5th shutout victory of the season.

Four Canadians had multi-hit nights including RF Brandon Polizzi (2-for-5, 2SB, 2RBI) and LF Otto Lopez (2-for-5, 2RBI) to pace Vancouver's offense. SS Jesus Severino (2-for-4) and 1B Sterling Guzman (2-for-4) also had a run scored each in the lopsided road win.

Guzman hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the 4th inning off reliever RHP Justin Garcia that scored DH Jake Brodt (walk off RHP Luis Frias) which proved to be the game's winning run.

With the victory, Vancouver (25-24, 6-5) moves into a three-way tie for top spot in the North Division alongside Spokane & Everett with Tri-City (5-6) just a game back with 27 second half games remaining. Vancouver also improved to 4-4 (.500) vs. Hillsboro in eight head-to-head meetings this season.

Note: Vancouver saw SS Vinny Capra promoted to Lansing (Midwest League) and received INF Reilly Johnson in return. The transaction was made official on August 3rd.

Vancouver sends RHP Josh Winckowski (3-4, 3.40) to the mound in search of the Canadians second straight road victory. Winckowski is coming off a seven-inning, one-run performance that helped the C's to a win over Eugene (July 29). Vancouver's win moved them to 10-15 (.400) in 25 road games.

Vancouver Canadians Baseball returns to Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium on Tuesday, August 14th at 7:05pm to open up a six-game homestand vs. Tri-City (August 14-16) and Spokane (Aug 17-19) with tickets available at www.canadiansbaseball.com, by calling 604.872.5232 or by visiting the Nat Bailey Stadium Box Office at 4601 Ontario Street, Vancouver, B.C.
