New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

HARRISBURG, Pa. - For the third time this month, Brian Bocock stole home plate as part of a double steal for the Fisher Cats. His swipe on Monday night accounted for the only Fisher Cats run in a 5-1 loss to begin a three-game series with the Harrisburg Senators (51-51) at Metro Bank Park.

Harrisburg jumped on top in the first inning, netting a sacrifice fly from Canadian Jimmy Van Ostrand against starting pitcher Deck McGuire (L; 4-11). A pair of runs scored in the third before Kris Watts belted a two-run homer to push the lead to 5-0 after four.

McGuire lasted just four innings, allowing five earned runs on five hits. For the second straight start, he failed to record a strikeout while tying a career high with five walks.

Bocock's run came in the top of the eighth inning as the second baseman belted his first triple of the season. After a walk to John Tolisano, the double steal came into play with Tolisano swiping second while Bocock walked home from third. Bocock's 12th steal - and Tolisano's team-leading 16th - broke up the shutout attempt at 5-1.

Bocock and Kevin Howard accounted for the bulk of the Fisher Cats offense, combining for four of the team's five hits. Bocock was 2-3 while Howard went 2-4, but was picked off first base for the final out of the game.

Washington Nationals starter Chien-Ming Wang (1-0) earned the win in his second rehab start for the Senators, tossing 6.1 shutout frames. He gave up just two hits with six strikeouts and no walks.

The series continues on Tuesday night at 7 PM as RHP Chad Jenkins (4-9, 5.26) faces Harrisburg RHP Ryan Perry (1-1, 1.63). Radio coverage begins at 6:45 PM with Tom Gauthier on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network and www.nhfishercats.com.

The Fisher Cats return home for a six-game stand on Tuesday, July 31, with Fire Fighter Appreciation Night. Following the lead of Bank of New Hampshire, which donated $1,000, the Fisher Cats will donate 50% of $10 and $12 ticket sales to the Muscular Dystrophy Association when fans mention 'MDA' or 'FIREFIGHTERS' at the ticket window. The first 1,000 kids will receive a stress reliever fire truck courtesy of Bank of New Hampshire. For tickets and a full list of promotions for the homestand, visit www.nhfishercats.com.
